The maintenance centre and wind farm are separated by a wide stretch of water spanning 36km. On top of the reflection of water creating interference problems, the salty water and high wind speeds create difficulty for equipment installation and handling. These conditions create a corrosive environment that can impact equipment durability. E.ON Climate & Renewables needed to find a solution that would keep their vital communications link between the two sites
To combat the harsh climate conditions, a SAF Phoenix M 1+1 Space Diversity solution was specifically tailored to endure the harsh winds and extremely salty environment. This solution was able to provide suitable communication for services teams that were installing wind turbines. In addition, the link’s connection was stable enough to provide video surveillance and climate measurements.
